LS V8. Nuff said.

No excuses, make it work.

If I remember correctly, which I never do, the EG33 is 100lbs heavier than an EJ25. So it is a big lump in weight. I want to say the FA20 is lighter than the EJ as well. . . so yeah.

Looks like a light engine. Plus now the FRS will have the torque it needs.

If this can fit in the 86, then Subaru/Toyota/Scion has no excuse for not making a turbo version.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 22:27 |

We know the EZ30 fits, though I think the EG33 is a larger motor and doesn't fit as easily.

If there is a will there is a way.

This is the most rational thing suggested so far.

I should go find measurments on this engine. I found a few on ebay for under 2 grand.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 22:33 |

Some one did fit a different flat 6 in there, so they definitely could fit a turbo!

Super high COG and heavy iron components, but fuck it... I say rotary

Did you buy this car for its handling or something? It is all about its powah brah!
I think I read somewhere that it is like 350 to 400lbs, where the FA20 is closer to 250lbs.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 22:41 |
|
I'm sure it's a few pounds lighter than the car itself.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 22:42 |
|
Or you could throw in a 2JZ, I think they are like 600 LBS :)
![]() 06/16/2014 at 22:43 |

WHOA! I didn't know that engine was so heavy. Although I guess that might be a reason why it can take like a bajillion horsepower.

Light as a feather that. Heard that was going in the next Miata.

It'd be awesome, and expensive, and less power than you would get from a turbo FA20.
Buy by the almighty Senna it would sound awesome.

It's the main reason I've never really been that impressed with the Supra, sure it's fast in a straight line, but kind of a porker in the bends.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 23:43 |
|
I have never been to interested in the Supra myself, I always assumed it was a nice handling machine like the R32 GTR. Now I am a little intrigued to find out more.
![]() 06/16/2014 at 23:44 |

We could probably get 300 to 330 hp out of the engine. Which would be MOAR than enough for the light car.

mmmm supercharged EZ30 fapfapfap
![]() 06/16/2014 at 23:56 |
|
It made 250hp stock, so another 50 shouldn't be too hard. Plus if at any point I do drop an engine the FRS won't be a daily so screw longevity! HIGH REVVING NA HORESPOWER!!!

I'll never swap or even do forced induction on my current FR-S. However, I like the car enough to possibly buy a salvage titled roller and drop in something sinister.... LS1 most likely
![]() 06/17/2014 at 00:31 |

I got to hoon around a track in a MkIV once, and while it was a good handling car, I found it quite soft and kind of imprecise. My FR-S is a scalpel , the Supra is a machete.

If you are gonna do LS, go big! LS3 baby!!!
![]() 06/17/2014 at 07:49 |

Awww hell yes. 45kg or so is tricky to offset, but far from impossible. Battery in the boot for ~20kg shifted front-rear.
That's equivalent to a 40kg saving on the front distribution-wise. The extra 5kg shouldn't be hard to find and then hey-presto, you're back to 50/50 :)
![]() 06/17/2014 at 14:35 |
|
Didn't think about it like that. Although it will have 100 more lbs to move around. Although, the EZ30 will have 70 more lbs ft of torque at 4000RPMs, and that is just the stock flat 6!
![]() 06/17/2014 at 17:04 |
|
I also forgot. 2JZ GTE. With Turbos. Big turbos.
![]() 06/18/2014 at 13:17 |

I dream of an S2000 motor'd FRS
![]() 06/18/2014 at 13:46 |
|
True :)
I'm sure you could strip 100lbs out of it somehow. Lightweight alternator and starter would likely go some way, then perhaps lightweight alloys, billet alloy calipers, high-spec alloy rad. It's not as if the aftermarket for BRZ/FRS' is small :)
I want to see it done. There are precious few front-engined flat 6 cars out there.

The 3.6 from the Legacy is smaller (physically) that this old timer.
